Each of us has a carpet or a rug at home and there always comes a time when we have to face the stains or the dust that has accumulated on our gorgeous carpets.Carpet cleaning is a bit challenging, but if you are well prepared you will manage to face the challenge and accomplish it. By prepared here, I don’t mean harsh detergents and cleaning solutions. Not at all. There are very smart ways to avoid using the above mentioned and clean the green way, and the cheaper way, as well! Start cleaning by using distilled vinegar – it is environmentally friendly and safe to use. White distilled vinegar kills bacteria, mold and germs. It does not irritate the baby’s skin as other cleaning solutions do. You can easily clean carpet stains by making your own solution. It is really simple mix 2 tablespoons of distilled vinegar and ¼ cup of baking soda, or, alternatively, if you don’t have soda, just use salt.

If you want to wash the entire carpet – take it outside and mix 1 cup of white distilled vinegar in a bucket of warm water. Use a brush, broom or a sponge to clean off the dirt and stains. Avoid using hosepipe to wash off (don’t forget about the hosepipe ban). Instead, use a bucket again and rinse. If you would like to refresh the colour of your carpet mix ¼ cup of vinegar for any gallon of water and apply.

Before trying the above mentioned techniques, though, always check the tags on your carpet and follow the manufacturer’s instructions. You might try and apply on a part of the carpet which is out of side. This test will show you whether it works and if it is not damaging the carpet. If the effect is what you wanted then go ahead with it. If you don’t feel comfortable cleaning the carpet yourself do not hesitate to find professional local carpet cleaning services. Better safe than sorry!
